General FAQs
How do I use PopSwatter?
PopSwatter is a feature that "swats" and kills Web browser-based
pop-ups before they appear on your screen. It is 100% free, includes
NO spyware and NO adware, and
comes with a free toolbar that attaches to your browser and lets you
search from anywhere on the Web. (The toolbar also includes a
PopSwatter button for one-click access to PopSwatter's latest
"swats", a safe list and more.)
Here's how PopSwatter
works:
Once you download and install PopSwatter, it is set to start
blocking pop-ups immediately. To change your settings, click the
PopSwatter button on your browser's toolbar and select
"Change Preferences". Your PopSwatter preferences page will appear in
your browser window (to the far left).
From here you can:

How did I get PopSwatter? You
received the PopSwatter in one of three ways. First, you may have clicked on an
advertisement for PopSwatter and downloaded it directly. Second, you may have
downloaded another Fun Web Product like Smiley Central or Cursor Mania and
received PopSwatter. Or, third, you may have downloaded the toolbar, which featuers PopSwatter and other Fun Web Products.
No matter how you got it, enjoy it! It is 100% free and will
dramatically improve your Internet experience.

You're offering me a free pop-up blocker? C'mon, there's got
to be a catch.
Actually, there isn't. We do understand, however, why you may be
skeptical and think PopSwatter is just too good to be true.
Especially considering all the rather unbelievable offers floating
around the Internet. So let us put your mind at ease and explain how
we make money - without charging you a cent.
When you download PopSwatter, you get a toolbar
installed on your Internet Explorer browser. This is how you change
your PopSwatter preferences - by clicking on the toolbar's PopSwatter
button. As you've no doubt already noticed, the toolbar also offers
you other great benefits, including a search tool that is powered by
the Internet's leading search engines. When you search the Web via
your toolbar and click on any of the highly relevant sponsored search
listings, we make money. It's as easy as that.
For this reason, we encourage you to do all your Internet searches
using your toolbar. It's convenient (because it's on
your browser, you can search from anywhere on the Web), and you
simply won't find a more powerful search tool anywhere. Enjoy!

Can I see a list of domains that have had their pop-ups
killed by PopSwatter? Yes - your PopSwatter "Swatted List"
provides a list of all domains swatted during your current browser session.
(Note: Once you close your browser, your Swatted List resets. PopSwatter does
not keep a running list of URLs from one browser session to the next.)
To view your Swatted List, click the PopSwatter button on your toolbar and
select "Change Preferences". Your preferences page will appear within your
browser window (far left). Click the Swatted List tab to see a list of URLs that
have attempted to show you pop-up ads during your current browser session.

I would love to see a counter with the total number of
pop-ups that PopSwatter has swatted to date. Do you have one?
We sure do! To see it, click the PopSwatter button on your toolbar
and select "Change Preferences". A PopSwatter Settings page will
appear within your browser window (far left). Below the PopSwatter
logo you'll see your very own "Ads swatted" tally.
Oh, the carnage! Oh, the satisfied feeling you'll have each time a
pop-up is added to your total! Sleep tight, friend. Your Web
experience just got a whole lot more fun.

Is my toolbar spyware?
NO! Your toolbar does not
collect any personal information and is completely “spyware”-free and
“adware”-free. Period.
The toolbar was specifically
designed to provide a great user experience free of spyware, adware,
direct marketing, data collection or other similar activities. In
order to achieve that goal:
-
The toolbar software DOES NOT collect
personal information of any kind, period. No email address,
registration or other information is required to use the product.
No zip code, no email, no member name, no password. Unlike many
other products, we do not even attempt to collect data upon startup
as a requirement of use.
-
The toolbar software DOES NOT monitor
the websites visited by the end user, collect or in any manner
report any information about what sites an end users visits (or any
clickstream activity), nor does it monitor or scrape information
when you are on other sites.
-
The toolbar software DOES NOT serve
or facilitate so-called "contextual advertising" where pop-up ads
are served based on the sites you visit. Many applications are
identified as spyware because they monitor end-user Internet usage
and serve contextual pop-ups. The toolbar does not
engage in any such practices.
In short, the toolbar provides a superior search
experience on an ANONYMOUS basis and without any additional
monitoring, contextual ads or other nuisances.
